(CNN) — A new mission designed to improve hurricane forecasting is ready to launch, just ahead of the June 1 arrival of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season.The NASA mission includes a constellation of CubeSats called TROPICS, or Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation structure and storm Intensity with a Constellation of Smallsats.The first two CubeSats are expected to lift off from Māhia, New Zealand, aboard a Rocket Lab Electron rocket during a two-hour window that opens at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday.The launch of this first mission, nicknamed “Rocket Like a Hurricane,” will stream live on NASA’s website and Rocket Lab’s website.Two additional CubeSats, nicknamed “Coming to a Storm Near You,” will launch from the same location later this month.Together, the four satellites, each weighing 12 pounds and about the size of a loaf of bread, will observe tropical cyclones from low-Earth orbit.Once all of them are in orbit, the tiny sa...A SUN AND SHOWERS KIND OF DAY

Happy Sunday, South Florida!Hopefully everyone had a wonderful weekend. South Florida continued to enjoy mostly quiet conditions this weekend, apart from a few quick-moving showers that pushed through our area late Saturday night and again on and off throughout the day today. And while the showers were a nuisance at times, South Florida still saw plenty of dry time and lots of sunshine to make up for it. Earlier this afternoon, high temperatures reached the mid 80s, which is near-average for South Florida this time of year. Friends and family members of a man who was killed in a road rage incident in Belmont two years ago came together on Sunday to honor his memory.Dean Kapsalis, 54, of Hudson, was recently convicted on charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a civil rights violation causing injury, and leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury in connection with the death of Henry Tapia, 35, of Belmont.Officers responding to a report of a person who had been struck by a car in the area of Upland Road in January 2021 found Tapia suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he later died.Residents who came together for the vigil said it was important to come together to keep his memory alive and to help the community heal after the hate-charged incident.Kapsalis is set to be sentenced in June.Fire rips through country club in Dartmouth, Mass.

A fast-moving fire ripped through a country club in Dartmouth, Mass. on Sunday.Pictures shared by the Dartmouth Police Department showed flames shooting out of the Hawthorne Country Club around 1 p.m.. New Hampshire state police are investigating a crash in Sullivan on Sunday morning that left a 21-year-old dead and a 16-year-old seriously injured, officials said.Troopers responding to a reported crash on Valley Road around 6:15 a.m. found a 2012 Ford Focus that had veered off the roadway and hit a stone wall, according to state police. Taylor Hokanson, of Keene, was pronounced dead at the scene.A 16-year-old passenger was ejected during the crash. The juvenile sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene for treatment. The juvenile was then airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon as a precaution.The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by the Sullivan Fire Department, the Keene Fire Department, Rescue Inc.
